One Month Old Today!

Today, Jax is one month old. And what a month it has been! For the most part, Jax is a very good baby. I know it's only been a month but he seems to have a good temperament and he's getting the hang of sleeping a little longer at night, which makes me very happy! I've included his month picture and a few more from the week.

We started the week with another doctor's appointment for mom. My blood platelet count is still high and I am now having to take baby aspirin every day to make sure my blood doesn't clot. My doctor thinks it has to do with the pregnancy/high blood pressure and its showing signs of slowly going down thank goodness. I included an updated picture of my feet to show everyone that I am returning to normal slowly but surely and that I do have ankles and bones in my feet. In the end, it was all worth the swelling. Look at the extra feet I got because of that swelling :)

We also went and visited my grandparents. They hadn't seen Jax since he was born. My grandfather is who Jax is named after. It's always nice to see them and spend time with them!

With Jax being a month old this week, I finally decided to start trying nap time in his big bed. He sleeps in a bassinet next to our bed right now for convenience. Well....and because I couldn't stand having him all the way across the house in another room....I'm just not there yet. Anyways, it's gone well for the most part and I included a picture.

I have two weeks to go before I return to work and I'm enjoying every last minute. Everything is going well and we are preparing dad for the 2 1/2 weeks he'll be watching Jax. He's doing well for the most part.....still learning but at least he's willing. Well, that's it for now - We'll keep you posted!

Happy Father's Day and More

What a fun week this has been. Jax will be 3 weeks old tomorrow and received a healthy report from the pediatrician. He now weighs 9lbs and 10ozs and is 21 inches long.

We made our first trip out to Mt. Lebanon this past week to meet the cooks and the rest of the staff. For those that don't know, the camp holds a very special place in our hearts. Jeremy grew up out there, we worked on the camp staff together and he also proposed to me at the camp. Jax will definitely be on staff some day as well so we thought we'd go ahead and introduce everybody now :) The first picture includes the two cooks - Dorris and Carrolyn - both have been cooks for many years and are great ladies.

We also had a few visitors this week. Both sides of grandparents like to come over and we are very glad we are now so close to them all so that dropping in is a possibility. Gigi (Jeremy's mom) brought some much needed diapers and Jax gave her a few smiles in appreciation even though its not shown in the picture.

Last but not least, Father's day was obviously on Sunday. Jax gave his daddy a gift certificate to a plant nursery that he's been wanting and then we headed to Grumpa's house for lunch (Jeremy's dad) Grumpa put his glasses on Jax and we all got a good laugh out of it. After lunch, we went to Honey and Papa's house for dinner and although Jax isn't quite ready for the pool, we watched DeAnn's boys swim and almost drowned - Preston (one of the 3 yr old twins) decided to cannon ball into the pool and didn't realize he was floaty free. Luckily, his mother came to the rescue and 5 minutes later, he was back in the pool.....what a crazy kid.

That's our week in a nutshell. As I write this post, my eyes grow heavy. My son decided he wanted to eat every 2 1/2 hours last night and I haven't recovered. We're on our way to take a nap. Hope everyone has a great week. We'll keep you posted!

Week in Review

Well, Jax and family had an eventful week and we thought we'd share it with everyone. OK, maybe it wasn't so eventful for most people but when you're staying home all day and all night sleeping and eating, any little thing is eventful. Besides, my blog gives me an excuse to take cute pictures of Jax :)

Every day begins with breakfast for mom and some bouncy chair time for Jax. He's finally swatting at the bird and stares so hard. Its one of those moments he truly looks like his father. I've also started putting him on the floor and trying to get him to raise his head as much as possible. He gets a little flustered but he's doing good for an almost 2 weeker. The third picture is a bath time picture. He's not too fond of the bath yet because he doesn't like to be unclothed but he's getting better. He's propped up in this picture - hence the many chins. The fourth picture is Jax with his younger two cousins. They visit often and we had to get a picture. This is the only picture in which all three were cooperating. The last picture is of Jeremy with Jax and Mona. Every time Jax cries, Mona comes running. Mona does not like Jax's cries but she's always very curious about what's going on. Both dogs have done very well with the baby. Mona likes to sniff but never gets too close.....we're lucky.

Jax will be two weeks old tomorrow. We are both going to the doctor for check ups tomorrow so we'll keep you posted on his growth and everything else when we hear tomorrow. As for me, I'm feeling a lot better. We made our first official trip to wal mart last week and Target today. Its nice to get out finally. Tomorrow, Jax will be visiting Mt. Lebanon for the first time and we are very excited about that - summer camp has started and that brings back many fond memories for Jeremy and I. Someday Jax too will work out there....how exciting. Well, that's it for today. We'll keep you posted.

Best Friends Forever

I had to share a few more pictures from Jax's birth and the time we spent in the hospital. I know I mentioned in the previous post that Jax's best friend came to visit - Cooper. Cooper's mom, Wanissa, and I have been good friends since we were in the second grade. We grew up together in church and have been best friends ever since. We were also fortunate enough to be pregnant together, which was nice. Even though Cooper and family live over an hour away now and don't seem to be moving closer to us anytime soon no matter how hard we try, we still get together often and know the boys will have so much fun growing up together like we did. Below are pictures of the dad's with the boys (they both look like their fathers) A picture with their moms and then a couple of pictures of Jax by himself....he's so cute! The last picture is our first picture as a family. Gotta go - Jax is throwing a fit.

Jax's Birth 5/27/08

Yes, I'm finally updating my blog. It's now been 6 days since Jax has been born and today is the first day I feel like doing anything at all. My pictures speak for themselves and there are a lot so I really don't have much to say and I'm also still very heavily drugged so I may not make sense.

Jax Dean Jackson was born at 10:13am on May 27,2008. He weighed 8lbs 13oz and was 20 7/8" by C-Section. My doctor finally figured out after she pulled him out that I have a heart shaped uterus which means Jax could not turn inside of me due to my uterus and my future pregnancies will result in csections as well.

We arrived at the hospital that morning - my sister was already there waiting on us. Since she is a nurse at Baylor, she was allowed in the OR and was able to video the whole thing. She also picked my nurses for me, which I loved - they all did a great job! Once I was in the OR, my nurse talked me through my epidural - which was terrible. So for all of you who have to look forward to csection spinal blocks, they burn like fire and then you want to throw up until they drug you so heavily that you don't care anymore. A sheet went up in front of my face and all I could feel was tugging - it was crazy. Jeremy came in and sat next to me and never looked over the sheet. He was so red - I kept asking him if he was ok. About 7 minutes later, I heard the most amazing noise. I will never forget that moment as long as I live. My husband sitting next to me and my son screaming away - what a true blessing from God!

I was wheeled to recovery and family from both sides poured in for the next 2 hours including Jax's best friend Cooper and pictured below, Jimmy Dean Kearney with grandmother, whom Jax Dean is named after. I was in the hospital for 3 nights and during that time, I had the best night nurse. I attached a picture of her - Chasity. She was the best nurse and I made sure the hospital knew when I left. I was so lucky to have her through everything I went through. I even asked if she could come home with me. Well, we're home now and doing well for the most part. I'm moving at a minimal speed but couldn't have asked for a better baby. Jax is very calm. Eats on schedule and sleeps very well....I think he's like his dad. He looks like Jeremy but has my chin. He makes the best faces.

I know they say motherhood changes you and they are right. I feel like a totally different person. The love I have for my husband and child is immeasurable. Jeremy has been a huge help and I am truly blessed that God gave me Jax and Jeremy. I look forward to each and ever day now with a new fervor for life.....not because of some event coming up or whatever but because of this new little person that I'm responsible for and my family. I can't really explain it but I am so thankful and blessed. Our families have been so helpful and wonderful. We've had many visitors and Jeremy's older sister Amy and husband Paul came to visit from Arizona. What a big help they were when we came home from the hospital. I was sad to see them go. Well, below are pictures. I hope you enjoy. Oh and Congrats to Melinda and Vanessa on their pregnancies....you are going to love every minute of it!

Bed Rest and Big Feet

I dedicate this picture to my sister-in-law Amy because she loves other peoples feet....hehehe. I went to the doctor today for my last checkup and I got scolded and then put on bed rest. I was going to work 3 days this week and she put a stop to that so I'm now on maternity leave for the next 7 weeks...yipee! My blood pressure was 160 over 100 and kept rising while I was at the doctor. She even made me lay down while I was there. She said if I didn't take it easy I could have a seizure and I don't want that. My feet have looked like this for a few days now. I don't even have calves anymore - just a straight block all the way down. Atleast I was able to get a pedicure. Jax has still not moved down. In fact, he's sitting straight up in my belly now - butt down - so looks like I'm on for the C-Section on May 27th at 9:30am.

I've also included some updated pictures of his room. I caught mona, our boxer, taking a snooze on his rug today. She definitely knows somethings up. And the last crazy pictures are of my baseball belly at week 38 and 5 days. I couldn't resist - trying to do something fun with the belly. Enjoy!

Crazy Dog....Crazy Baby

Well, another week has gone by and no baby :( I had my 37 1/2 week appointment today and the little guy is still breach. Good news is that he did move his feet higher so there is still a possibility that he could turn the right way. My doctor and I discussed my options and I decided to go ahead and schedule a C-Section for May 27th at 9:30am at Baylor in Downtown Dallas. That gives Jax two weeks to make up his mind on how he wants to come out and make his grand appearance. My doctor even asked me if I've had a discussion with my son about coming out and I told her we talk every day. I've included a picture...notice I'm not smiling. This is what misery looks like at 37 weeks and 5 days - no sleep and swollen everything.

Now I know you're just dying to know why I have a crazy dog as stated in the title. Razor the german shepard has issues. As a lot of you know, we have to now sedate him during storms. Every year he gets crazier and crazier. I think with the new move and the baby on the way, he's gotten even crazier so he decided to start eating his tail. I took him to the vet this last week and the doctor knocked him out, gave him some shots, cleaned his tail and put this ridiculous cone on his head so he couldn't get to his tail. I just had to include a picture. When he's in the house, he runs into everything. It's pretty funny. Right now, its the only thing you'll see me laugh at....enjoy.
