We Interupt this marriage to bring you football season!

Last football season, I got a pillow with that saying on it from our head football coach's wife - Debbie McGuire. I thought it was hilarious....then I found out it was true. Football season has officially started in the Jackson household as of today. Jeremy returned to coaching and I told Jax this morning when he left - "Say bye bye to daddy, he'll be back in December" So good luck Cedar Hill Longhorns.

Jeremy has had the opportunity to watch Jax for the past 3 weeks as I went back to work. Its been interesting but I'm glad he gets that time with Jax during the summers. I got home yesterday and Jeremy was sitting in his usual chair with Jax and spit up all down his red shirt. I thought it was hilarious and of course had to get a picture.

Everyone is always saying my little man looks like his father so I got a picture of my two boys as well.....aren't they precious.

And finally for Jax's latest update. The whole family went to the pediatrician last week for Jax's two month check up....this was a rough day for all of us. He is now weighing in at 13lbs 14oz and is 24 inches long - that's right, he's 2 months and the doctor said he's on track with a 3 1/2 month old. He's going to be a big boy! He also received his first 4 shots and I don't know who cried more, me or him. Jeremy had to hold him down while that mean ol' nurse shot his poor little legs up. That was the worst thing I've ever seen! He ran a little temperature that day and slept and cried...it wasn't fun but dad was there to take care of him.

Jax has made a lot of progress as well in the past couple of weeks. He holds his head up so well but not solid all the time yet. He talks and smiles all the time which is so cute. He's starting to suck his fingers when he's hungry....very loudly. He doesn't really cry anymore when he's hungry in the middle of the night - all I hear is sucking and know its time to eat. He sleeps between 5-6 hours at night so that's getting better too. At 9 weeks he rolled over from tummy to back for the first time. I was shocked but it was so cute. He's not taking morning naps too well but does a great job after his 1pm feeding with a 3 hour nap so I guess I can't complain.

I've put him in this seat a few times and all he does is scream. This was the first time he didn't scream and actually stayed in it for about 10 minutes just looking around. It was so funny. And lastly, I've got very exciting news about myself. After much consideration and stress about Jax staying with other people while I'm at work, I've been able to work out my schedule to only do hair 3 days a week - Mondays, Tuesdays and Saturdays. Now my sister only watches him 2 days a week and my mother-in-law will watch him on Saturdays. This gives me more time with my son and less time at work. But I'll be working long days on Mondays and Tuesdays to make up for not being there the other days. I'm so excited. As I sit here and write this now, I'm done with work for the rest of the week and don't go back until next Wednesday. I love being self employed and love my clients but I want to be there for Jax as much as possible. Well, that it for now, we'll keep you posted!

Annual Galveston Trip

Well, I made it through my first week of work and part of the second.....then we got to go to the beach. It was not a fun week. I cried all day the first day, part of the second and then Saturday was the worst. It doesn't make it any better that all my clients want to talk about my child. Oh well, it will get better I'm assuming. I never thought it would be this difficult but look at that face - would you want to leave him? Oh well, what can I do....oh yeah, win the lottery.

Anyways, we headed to Galveston on Wednesday night and stayed through Sunday. This was Jax's first vacation. He did really well in the car and slept really well on vacation....a little too much. He didn't eat on schedule of course but that's ok - he hasn't missed too many meals as you can see :) He's now sleeping at least 5 hours a night thank goodness and he's continuing to be a very laid back child.

We never do much in Galveston except relax, hang out at the beach and go eat/shopping. Not much else to say. Below are some pictures. Glad to be back home and look forward to my bed tonight.

Say a little prayer for Jax on Tuesday. He has his 2 month checkup and all those shots. I'm not looking forward to this. Well, that's about it. We'll keep you posted!

Fourth of July Week

What a fun week we've had. There were a lot of firsts for Jax this week. First fireworks show...slept right through it...first swim in the pool.....and first smile at mom without passing gas.

Jax is always most alert in the mornings. On July 3rd we woke up as usual and had breakfast. I usually put him in his bouncy chair while I do some things and I started talking to him and thought I'd give it a try....I said "Can you smile at mommy" and his face lit up. I thought "surely that didn't just happen" so I tried again and again and again. I got 4 smiles from him and then I cried as usual. He has done it every day this week and even smiled for my mom today. He's making good eye contact and making a lot more noises.

We went and watched fireworks in Midlothian with Trey, Wanissa and Cooper on the 3rd. We had a great time as usual. We got a picture of Cooper and Jax below along with some of our family. I also took another picture of Jax after his bath one night. He always looks so cute after bath time....I couldn't help it.

On Sunday's, we usually go to my parents for dinner and swim time with the cousins. I haven't been allowed to get wet due to my surgery until this next week but who's counting. We got in today. Jax did very well. Even though it looks like he got mad in the picture, he really enjoyed it once he was in. I kept him in for about 5 minutes until his teeth started chattering and then my mom took him out.

Well, that's about it for the week. I'm doing this post at 10:45 on Sunday night because all I plan on doing tomorrow is holding my son. It's our last full day together before I go back to work. I know I've said this before but its going to be a rough week for me. I love what I do for a living but nothing beats being a mom! Gotta get some sleep before the first feeding....We'll keep you posted!

First Church Appearance

Not much of a big week in the Jackson house. Jax and I did get out a little more this week. He seems to really like Walmart - always does really well when we go. We also went to the Allen Outlets with Wanissa and Cooper and over to my old salon to see everybody. He's also starting to sleep a little longer. Last night he slept for 4 hours, ate, then slept another 4 hours.....Mom was very excited!

Anyways, the big event this week was church. Of course this made me anxious but he did really good. He slept through the whole thing. I got him all dressed up, dad made sure he took his bible that Grumpa gave him and off we went. We have a praise band that is really loud and when they started up, Jax did his signature stunned arm freak out where he throws his hands up in the air and shakes them.....then he went back to sleep. He made 2 loud sighs at the end of the service and that was it. He got to see a lot of people and once again, it was nice to get back into our normal way of doing things.

Jax will be 5 weeks old on Tuesday. We will be making the most of this week and it will be a rough one for mom as it is my last week before I go back to work. Everybody say a little prayer for mommy's emotions.....don't let them get the best of me.....I'm dreading it! Well, that's it for now. We'll keep you posted!

One Month Old Today!

Today, Jax is one month old. And what a month it has been! For the most part, Jax is a very good baby. I know it's only been a month but he seems to have a good temperament and he's getting the hang of sleeping a little longer at night, which makes me very happy! I've included his month picture and a few more from the week.

We started the week with another doctor's appointment for mom. My blood platelet count is still high and I am now having to take baby aspirin every day to make sure my blood doesn't clot. My doctor thinks it has to do with the pregnancy/high blood pressure and its showing signs of slowly going down thank goodness. I included an updated picture of my feet to show everyone that I am returning to normal slowly but surely and that I do have ankles and bones in my feet. In the end, it was all worth the swelling. Look at the extra feet I got because of that swelling :)

We also went and visited my grandparents. They hadn't seen Jax since he was born. My grandfather is who Jax is named after. It's always nice to see them and spend time with them!

With Jax being a month old this week, I finally decided to start trying nap time in his big bed. He sleeps in a bassinet next to our bed right now for convenience. Well....and because I couldn't stand having him all the way across the house in another room....I'm just not there yet. Anyways, it's gone well for the most part and I included a picture.

I have two weeks to go before I return to work and I'm enjoying every last minute. Everything is going well and we are preparing dad for the 2 1/2 weeks he'll be watching Jax. He's doing well for the most part.....still learning but at least he's willing. Well, that's it for now - We'll keep you posted!

Happy Father's Day and More

What a fun week this has been. Jax will be 3 weeks old tomorrow and received a healthy report from the pediatrician. He now weighs 9lbs and 10ozs and is 21 inches long.

We made our first trip out to Mt. Lebanon this past week to meet the cooks and the rest of the staff. For those that don't know, the camp holds a very special place in our hearts. Jeremy grew up out there, we worked on the camp staff together and he also proposed to me at the camp. Jax will definitely be on staff some day as well so we thought we'd go ahead and introduce everybody now :) The first picture includes the two cooks - Dorris and Carrolyn - both have been cooks for many years and are great ladies.

We also had a few visitors this week. Both sides of grandparents like to come over and we are very glad we are now so close to them all so that dropping in is a possibility. Gigi (Jeremy's mom) brought some much needed diapers and Jax gave her a few smiles in appreciation even though its not shown in the picture.

Last but not least, Father's day was obviously on Sunday. Jax gave his daddy a gift certificate to a plant nursery that he's been wanting and then we headed to Grumpa's house for lunch (Jeremy's dad) Grumpa put his glasses on Jax and we all got a good laugh out of it. After lunch, we went to Honey and Papa's house for dinner and although Jax isn't quite ready for the pool, we watched DeAnn's boys swim and almost drowned - Preston (one of the 3 yr old twins) decided to cannon ball into the pool and didn't realize he was floaty free. Luckily, his mother came to the rescue and 5 minutes later, he was back in the pool.....what a crazy kid.

That's our week in a nutshell. As I write this post, my eyes grow heavy. My son decided he wanted to eat every 2 1/2 hours last night and I haven't recovered. We're on our way to take a nap. Hope everyone has a great week. We'll keep you posted!

Week in Review

Well, Jax and family had an eventful week and we thought we'd share it with everyone. OK, maybe it wasn't so eventful for most people but when you're staying home all day and all night sleeping and eating, any little thing is eventful. Besides, my blog gives me an excuse to take cute pictures of Jax :)

Every day begins with breakfast for mom and some bouncy chair time for Jax. He's finally swatting at the bird and stares so hard. Its one of those moments he truly looks like his father. I've also started putting him on the floor and trying to get him to raise his head as much as possible. He gets a little flustered but he's doing good for an almost 2 weeker. The third picture is a bath time picture. He's not too fond of the bath yet because he doesn't like to be unclothed but he's getting better. He's propped up in this picture - hence the many chins. The fourth picture is Jax with his younger two cousins. They visit often and we had to get a picture. This is the only picture in which all three were cooperating. The last picture is of Jeremy with Jax and Mona. Every time Jax cries, Mona comes running. Mona does not like Jax's cries but she's always very curious about what's going on. Both dogs have done very well with the baby. Mona likes to sniff but never gets too close.....we're lucky.

Jax will be two weeks old tomorrow. We are both going to the doctor for check ups tomorrow so we'll keep you posted on his growth and everything else when we hear tomorrow. As for me, I'm feeling a lot better. We made our first official trip to wal mart last week and Target today. Its nice to get out finally. Tomorrow, Jax will be visiting Mt. Lebanon for the first time and we are very excited about that - summer camp has started and that brings back many fond memories for Jeremy and I. Someday Jax too will work out there....how exciting. Well, that's it for today. We'll keep you posted.
