Weekend in Austin with Shelley

My mom and I went down Friday January 22nd to Austin. My best friend from grade school - Shelley Turner got married. I was also able to combine the trip with a little reunion with my old college roommate Mimi Quinn. We had a great weekend. My mom and I finished it up with some shopping on Sunday at the Round Rock outlets for my little guys....she wore me out but we had a great time! I guess you can say that was my last little trip before Jake gets here.

We started off Saturday morning with doing Shelley's hair at 7:45 then the makeup lady came in and finished her off before heading to the chapel. Shelley got married at a little chapel on a hill in Austin - Chapel Dulcinea at 10:30. It just seated about 12 people but then she had a reception for about 40 at a favorite restaurant of hers in Austin. It was a fun filled day....a little windy but a great day for a wedding. After the wedding, they were heading off for a cruise out of Galveston to Mexico. We wish them the best...Shelley and Shawn Mansur married January 23, 2010. Pictures below of the wedding.

Big Boy in Big Bed

That's right, last night was Jax's first night in his big boy bed (1 week shy of 20 months old). I'll have to admit it was a little hard on me. He actually took his nap in his new room yesterday and did great so I thought I'd give it a try last night. He fell asleep pretty quick and woke up around 7:15am....slept all night.

I put him down thinking it might take a while and it didn't. I got a little teary eyed.....he's growing up so fast.

This picture was taken when he woke up this morning. I don't think he was too happy that I turned on the light so quick. That's Brutus at the bottom checking in on his buddy.

Since I've been on a roll switching his room, I finished off today with getting all his clothes in his room and pulling out all the baby clothes for Jake. It's nice to get things accomplished!

Big Boy

Jeremy and I realize more and more everyday how big Jax is really getting. It seems like he was just born and now he's shaking the dogs hands and asking them "How are you" :) My first picture this week is of Jax eating his own bowl of cheerios or cheeros as he calls them with his spoon. He loves them

Jeremy told me the other day that he was taking a nap with Jax and was just looking at his legs - the baby fat was gone and he's leaned out. He said "he doesn't look like a baby anymore" It was so cute

The second picture I have of him this week was from the first week of the year. When Jeremy has to get in the attic, Jax stands at the bottom of the stairs and yells "daddy" the whole time. He hates that he can't go up there. So I gave in and helped him up the stairs...you see the big smile on his face. He thought that was the greatest thing ever. Look how grown up he looks.

I've been working very hard to get ready for this new little guy. We are in the process of moving Jax into his new room and changing a few things in the nursery for Jake. I took a couple of pictures so you can see what I am up to. Jax's new room will be a wild animal room and we are leaving the nursery in the red sox theme. It's been fun painting letters, finding wall art and putting it all together. We found out that the nursery will come to good use after April 9th when he arrives. I'm looking forward to having a baby again since I seem to now be raising a Big Boy :) Until next time, we'll keep you posted!
