Jax's 1st Birthday Party

Well, the day has come and gone now - Jax is officially one and had a great week with the zoo, Aunt Amy and Uncle Paul staying with us and then his birthday party at Mt Lebanon. I tried to take a picture of Jax with his cute bday party outfit on but he was being goofy. The other picture was just too cute - Aunt Amy reading to Jax the morning of his party. We've had a great week and I've included tons of pictures from the party
so enjoy!

I almost forgot - this picture was taken on his actual birthday right before bed. Jeremy and I got Jax a xylophone and a collector baseball figure. Jeremy decided he's going to get Jax one every year. I chose the xylophone because he likes noise and banging on things....good combo. He loved his first gifts. We just kept it simple since we didn't know what all he was going to get for his party.

This was Jax's birthday cake. It was the drama of my day - not quite what I was expecting for how much I paid but you live and you learn....never use them again! Lets just say this picture is an improvement from what I originally picked up from the bakery....it was taken back in after a few tears in the car and a phone call to my mother and had a little more work done before I picked it up a second time. You only have your first birthday once!

Jax got a lot of great gifts. Jeremy's dad - Grumpa made Jax the little picnic set behind him and Grandma Jackson gave him the turtle sandbox which he loves! Aunt Amy and Uncle Paul gave Jax a bbq grill with food and beverages that he also loves to play with and is all over my living room floor right now

Honey and Pappa (my mom and dad) gave Jax a red wagon. We tested it out tonight in our neighborhood and he really enjoyed the ride! We look forward to many more. Aunt DeAnn also gave Jax some new clothes and a basketball hoop.

We also took Jax for a little dip in the pool. He was trying to drink the water. We also watched all the other crazy people go down the big water slide and then had some hotdogs and cake.

We finished off the afternoon with a little cake for Jax to get into and the happy birthday song. He got a little messy but never really went crazy with the cake. All in all, it was a great day...but I'm glad its over. Thanks to everyone that came and all the great gifts. We are so thankful for our families and the fun we had! We'll keep you posted!

Happy 1st birthday Jax

Jax Dean Jackson was born one year ago today at 10:13am weighing 8lbs 13oz. I can't believe its been a year. We've had so much fun with him and I look forward to many more years of watching him grow and learning new things!

Jeremy and I both took the day off and took Jax to the Ft Worth Zoo for the first time. We had a great time! Jax pointed at everything and loved the animals. I took tons of pictures so bare with me.

We started off with the gorilla exhibit. He even made noises at them.....so cute!

Then we went on to see the penguins, kangaroos, rhino and elephant.

We stopped and let Jax ride the carousel....I think Jeremy got a little tired of going round and round :)

What's wrong with this picture you ask....why am I on the outside of the fence - this was the bird exhibit. Tons of parakeets were flying around inside and it seriously made me sick. They would fly right at the fence and I kept backing up so I never got a good picture of any of the birds. I hate and am deathly afraid of birds! So Jax and dad went and checked it out - Jax loves birds and points at them all the time!

We had a great time at the zoo and finished it off with a little lunch and ice cream for all three of us. What a great way to spend his birthday! He was so sleepy that when we put him in the car, I think it took about 2 minutes for him to fall asleep. Jax's party is Saturday and we look forward to that. I'll have more pictures. Until then, we'll keep you posted!

Hair Show for Shelley

Everybody calm down....there will be more pictures of Jax next week. I thought I'd actually do a post about myself for once. Nothing too exciting but something fun I did this last week. A few of the girls from my salon and I went to a hair show in Dallas at a club in Uptown. We went out to eat first and then met up with some others at the show.

For those of you interested, a hair show is something that different hair lines offer to keep us updated on the latest trends, products, cuts, colors, and fashion all together. They are usually really fun to go to - you get to see all these crazy hairstylists all dressed up and whoever puts the event on usually feeds us, makes sure there is plenty to drink for free, puts on a good show with loud music and really cool models and gives us free products to boot! What more can you ask for.

Unfortunately, this show wasn't the best but we all still had a good time and it always gives me a little boost to go back to work and do some bangin hair the next day - motivation never hurt! I included some pictures of a few of the featured matrix artists that were styling some models and explaining their new product line - enjoy a look into a fun evening at work for a hairstylist!
(This show was on the smaller scale for a hairshow. It had a small runway but nothing like the new york, chicago or vegas shows hairstylists can attend each year)

This next week is Jax's birthday. I'll have tons of pictures next week. We're going to the zoo on Wednesday - his actual birthday and then his party is Saturday. I'm so excited and can't wait to share. Until then...We'll keep you posted!

Great picture week!

Jax is making some serious progress towards standing and walking. This week has been fun working with him on all that. Mona and Brutus have gotten to the point where they will sit or stand still long enough to let Jax pull up on them. It's funny because they won't move once he's done it...it's like they know - he's going to fall if I move a muscle. What good dogs...most of the time :) I was able to get a picture of this. Even though my camera was in the other room. Brutus never followed me because he knew Jax was hanging onto him....so cute!

Jax and I like to play in the study because its one of the few rooms in our house that has carpet. The next couple of pictures were taken after Jeremy had gotten home...he's the camera man. I was showing Jeremy how Jax could stand on his own. The first one is so cute. Jax's eyes are so big as he's on his way down to the ground after standing for a bit.....he's learning! The second picture - Jeremy got it right in time. I always get so excited and Jax thinks that's funny - he's laughing in this pic.

These last two pictures were taken at the Cedar Hill varsity baseball game this last week. They made the first round of the playoffs but got beat by Plano. Jeremy actually got to help coach these last two games and work with the pitchers since he'll be the Varsity assistant next year so ofcourse we had to go watch along with Jeremy's dad and Jana (Grumpa and Grammy)!! I just love this first picture.....big field and the two of them looking at each other right in the middle of it all. The second picture was after the game. As most of you know, getting Jeremy to smile in pictures takes an act of God and this picture was no different. That is his tongue in his mouth by the way but Jax was tired and I wasn't able to take another one so this is what I've got - Dad and Jax.

Well, that's it for now - week and a half till Jax's birthday (27th) two weeks till the party. I'm stressing already but looking forward to it. We'll keep you posted!

Happy Mother's Day/Dedication

Today was a great day for many reasons! It was my first mother's day, Jax was dedicated at our church this morning and Jax stood on his own for the first time.
We started out the morning with a great breakfast by dad and a spa gift certificate from Jax and Jeremy.....oh how I love the spa!
On to church for sunday school and then Jax was dedicated during church with a few other kids. Jax's great grandparents on my mom's side came to his dedication along with my parents - gotta love family support!
He did really good for the most part. He clapped when everyone clapped, pointed at all the lights and while the preacher was saying the prayer - Jax said ball very loudy twice. Below are some pictures my mom took during the dedication.

After church was over, we had lunch with my family and went home. Jax was in the bathroom with me where he loves to pull on the toilet paper. He had stood up using the wall with toilet paper in the other hand. He wanted to pull the toilet paper apart but couldn't do it while holding onto the wall so he just let go and stood there for a good minute while ripping tp to shreds. I got so excited and screamed - it scared him so down he went.....it was pretty funny.
The two other pictures below are just random. The first one is of Jax with his cousins Preston and Grant at our garage sale this last week. The other one, I took a week ago. Jax loves playing with Jeremy's baseballs. He throws them and goes and picks them up and does it again over and over. Most of the time, he throws it with his left hand.....I'm keeping my fingers crossed he's left handed! Until next week, we'll keep you posted!

First Haircut

Today, Jax got his first haircut.....and no, I didn't do it :) There is a lady that has cut my hair, my sister's hair, my nephew's hair and now Jax's hair. Her name is Susan and she has been doing my grandmother's hair in Dallas for years and years. We've become good friends with her and her family and it has just been tradition to have her cut everyone's hair first. She won't let us pay her - she says "the first one is free" and she even tried to hand me the scissors to finish it off and I told her no way. She had to do it. I'll have plenty of other times.
Jax did really good. He was a little unsure when she put the cape on but then he warmed up to her. He was a big flirt!

When he got done, we had to have a couple more pictures and then Susan treated Jax to a few grahm crackers for being so good....what a deal. It was a good experience and yes, I kept some hair for his baby book. He's getting so big. It's amazing how a little trim makes him look so big.

Sorry about the bad picture - a wrong button was pushed. This is my grandmother with us. We went and visited her and my grandfather for a while when we got done. Jax slapped my grandfather's bald head as we headed out the door to go home. It was really funny...I don't know what he was thinking. Well, that's it for now. We'll keep you posted!
